The Love of Possessions

This week, we’re looking at some strong warnings from Christ against the love of possessions. Earlier in His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus focused on the private, but now He turns His focus to the public elements of our Christian lives. It can be easy to fall into the pattern of having a secular life that looks different from our spiritual life; one of the easiest ways for us to slip into such behavior is through our earthly pursuits and a love of material things. How can our pursuit of worldly things end up enslaving our hearts? In our daily choices, who or what are we truly serving? How do we store up treasures in Heaven while here on earth? Warnings against covetousness can be found all throughout Scripture. Join us as we are mindful of how earthly attachments to treasures can hinder our relationship with God, and learn how to focus our hearts on prioritizing Christ as we continue our series.
