Giving to the Needy

As we continue through the Sermon on the Mount, we’re looking at how to avoid hypocrisy in godliness, particularly when it comes to how and why we give. Giving to the needy is part of our duties as believers, but the posture of our hearts when we give is even more important than doing so in the first place. The Pharisees struggled with hypocrisy in this matter, seeking praise and admiration from others in all that they did. How can we be sure to avoid hypocrisy in godliness? What should our hearts look like as we give? What approval are we truly seeking in our everyday actions? Jesus calls us to give to those in need without seeking praise or recognition.
