Love Does Not Envy

Series: Messy: Loving Others Isn’t Easy

Love Does Not Envy

June 09, 2019 | Dane Aaker

So far in this series, we’ve been discussing some of the aspects of love: what it is, what it looks like, and how it behaves; but this week, we’re discussing what love isn’t; we’re taking a look at what love doesn’t do. Love does not envy. Envy is such a small word and is also such a big sin. You cannot love and envy at the same time; to be envious is to not love. The sin of envy will wreak havoc, pain, and destruction in our lives as well as those of those around us. The sin of envy is what leads us to crave more and more, causing springs of bitterness, and eventually distancing us from God. What lies would envy have us believe? What is the difference between jealousy and envy? How do we remain mindful of the grace and mercy of God? Watch as we learn how to wield weapons against the sin of envy and gain contentment as we continue our series.
