Doctrinal Statement of Faith

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God in both the New and Old Testaments (2 Timothy 3:16; John 17:17; 2 Peter 1:21).

We believe that there is only one God. This God exists in the form of three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17 & 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16).

We believe Jesus Christ was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18, 20; Luke 1:34-35). Jesus Christ is both fully divine (John 1:1, Philippians 2:6) and fully human (John 1:14). He will return someday for believers and dwell with them forever (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

We believe the Holy Spirit lives within every believer at the point of salvation (John 14:16-18; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19). This indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, which occurs at salvation, is called the baptism of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13). The filling of the Holy Spirit is an experience, which follows salvation and occurs when believers submit themselves to the controlling power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:5). The Holy Spirit gives various spiritual gifts to believers (1 Corinthians 12:11). The purpose of these gifts is the building up of the church (1 Corinthians 14:3-5, 12, 17, 26).

We believe Satan is real (Matthew 13:19, 39; Acts 5:3, 2 Corinthians 11:14), but God is more powerful than Satan and has already defeated the power of Satan on the cross (Hebrews 2:14-15).Satan is the originator of evil in our world (Genesis 3:1-7; Ephesians 6:10-12).

We believe that all people have sinned (Romans 3:9, 10, 22, 23; Psalm 14; Isaiah 53:6).

We believe that Christ died for all people (Romans 5:18; 2 Corinthians 5:19; 1 John 2:2), but only those who accept the forgiveness offered by Christ will be saved (John 3:16; 1 Timothy 1:16).Those who have not accepted this forgiveness will suffer eternal punishment (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11-15). Salvation is on the basis of faith only (Ephesians 2:8-9), but this salvation is evidenced by a life that is changed by the power of God (John 8:31 and 14:15; 1 John 2:3).
